manual:chapter2:keyboard

This is an old revision of the document!

The keyboard has 3 distinct areas:

  • Soft menu keys
  • Command area
  • Calculator pad

show picture here with the 3 areas

There's also 3 shift keys: left shift (arrow pointing to the left, from here on referred to as LS), right shift (arrow pointing right, from here on referred to as RS), and Alpha. Each shift activates different actions on the keys (typically painted the same color as the shift). Alpha enables alphanumeric mode in which text can be typed on the keyboard. Most keys have various letters and symbols associated to them in alphanumeric mode, depending on the shifts.

Soft menu

The 6 keys (APPS, MODE, TOOL, VAR, STO and NXT) act like F1 to F6 but for the lower menu. So you always have access to your vars, no matter which menu you are in.
